If I had a million dollars, I’d get not only each size of circ, but all the lengths, too. Things just seem to go faster with them, and no laddering between needles.

That might have been the case, except that it hasn’t turned back up again, and I’ve asked.

If I do that hat again, I’ll do it on circulars. But I’d still like to have my needle back.

Ah, see, since it turned out so well, I’d actually attribute the missing dpn to the guardian angel nudging it out of the bag under the theory of, “If the dpn goes missing, she’ll switch to circulars and wind up liking them, and then she won’t mind knitting these so much, so more needy people will be kept warm as a result of her productivity!”

Now that he’s has a taste of what wool can really do (like keep you warm, even when it’s more than halfway soaked through) you simply must knit mittens or gloves for him. Those are actually easier than socks, incidentally. Basic, good patterns are available at http://www.bevscountrycottage.com She focuses on charity knitting, so if you’re ever seeking a cause, she’s a great go-to resource for that. Might I suggest an alpaca or alpaca blend? It’s even warmer and softer than wool, and makes for perfect gloves.

i would say this sounds like an excuse to make him another pair of socks to wear on his hands like a kid who lost their gloves… but then, might be hard to work without the use of fingers individually.
