It’s calendar time!

If you, like many other people, occasionally have to plan events in advance, you’ll probably be buying a calendar for 2009. You might have relatives for whom you will be buying a Christmas gift. And if you will do either of those things, I’d like to suggest you check out this.

It’s the Galapagos Island calendar, by a father-and-son team, oil paintings by the father and drawings by the son. Oh, and they both happen to be related to me. The proceeds from the calendars are going to benefit The Damien House, a hospital that treats Hansen’s Disease (leprosy) in Ecuador. (Where another relative of mine was a missionary for a couple of years, come to think of it.) The Damien House is operated on a shoestring budget and a whole lot of prayer and love.

I’ve seen the calendar, and it’s really quite awesome. The first print run of the calendar (1,000 calendars) sold out by August! This is actually the second printing, and it’s selling really well too.

Get one for yourself. Think: Christmas present. Think, Hanukkah present. Buy ten!

You can read more about the calendars here:

and here:

If you want a calendar, you can email the artist (Paul) at The cost is $14.99. Checks should be made out to the Damien House (see, that way you know Damien House is benefitting and not the artists!) and are tax deductible.

If you couldn’t care less about the calendar or what day of the week it is, then please pray for the Damien House and its residents.
