how to drive Mom insane in one easy step

Time: ten minutes until the school bus

Place: all over my house

Me: Is your bag packed?

Kiddo#3: Um…

Me: No, it’s completely empty. Go get your lunch bag.

Kiddo#3:

Me: Do you have it?

Kiddo#3: It’s not in the fridge.

Me: Are you buying hot lunch today? Are you only taking a snack?

Kiddo#3: I think so.

{note: my Patient Husband packs their lunches if they’re taking a lunch rather than buying}

Me: Okay, so I’ll pack that. Where’s the lunch bag?

Kiddo#3: I don’t know.

Me: Did you bring it home from school?

Kiddo#3: Yes.

Me: Then where is it?

Kiddo#3: I’ll look for it at school.

Me: So you left it there?

Kiddo#3: I don’t think so.

Me: You need to think about it. Where is it?

Kiddo#3: I’m sure.

Me: You’re sure of what?

Kiddo#3:

Me: Is it at school, or is it at home?

Kiddo#3: I don’t know.

Me: Then when you said you were sure, what were you sure of?

Kiddo#3:

{note: while this has been going on, I’ve gotten his snack together and put it in a regular bag.}

Me: Where is your water bottle?

Kiddo#3: I don’t know.

Me: Did you leave that at school too?

Kiddo#3: No.

Me: Then where is it?

Kiddo#3: I’ll look for it at school.
